The second Koranic lecture for Mr. Ali Al-Zaidi



In the name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

I trust in God the lord of all worlds

Blessings of Allah be upon Mohammed and on his family

I seek refuge with God from the cursed Satan

In the name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

O people who believe. Remember the favor of Allah upon you when some armies came against youso We sent against them a windstorm and the armies you could not see and Allah sees your deeds

When they came upon you from above you and from below you and when the eyes became fixed in stareand the hearts came up to the throats and you were harboring doubts about Allah

There, the believers were tested and they were subjected to a severe shake

True are the words of Allah the Most High the Great

Today we interpret these blessed verses

In fact. These verses are from about 19 verses which mention Battle of the Trench or Al-Ahzab (the parties-the Confederates) this battle affected directly on the Islamic general case regarding that it represents special event and historical changing at Muslims and the case of polytheists changed to another case whence we can say that it destroyed them whereas after this event there weren’t effective deeds from the polytheistsand their supporters from the Jews and other. This battle happened between the fourth or fifth A.H. The main spark which caused this battle began from the Jews from their head Huyayy bin Akhtab specifically. He is leader of tribe of Banu Nadir those whom Messenger of Allah evacuated them from Medinaand they went to Khaybar This tribe of Jews - Banu Nadir- represents the higher priestly or theological side at them regarding that they are from progeny of Haroon, so the priestly authority was at them. It is known that most people incline in most times to their great religious men. He moved by many considerations, he came to Abu Sufian. He said to him, we were evacuated and suffered injury from Mohammed and you suffered injury from him too, I can prepare equipment and army, and also prepare the Arabic tribes which I am allied with them in addition to existence of Banu Qurayza

Why did Banu Qurayza stay in Medina? Because they contracted treaty with Messenger of Allah, they are as army not tribe, as army, I can count from them about 700 warrior. He (Abu Sufian) became pleased with this thought, each one of them went to a side, Abu Sufian mobilize the Arabic tribes as Hawazen and other, and Huyayy bin Akhtab moved toward tribe of Gatafan mainly regarding that tribe of Gatafan was allied with Banu Nadirbefore the plotting on Messenger of Allah and on Muslims, there was alliance with Gatafan regarding that Gatafan is from the great tribes in the Arabic society (Island)

Location of Gatafan was in East north of Khaiber, and location of Banu Nadir was in Khaiber therefore they contracted a treaty with this tribe to be under its protection. The Jews always need walls to be based on them they cannot live dependence on themselves, they are parasites

Gatafan brought several tribes as Bani Asad, Bani Saleem and other. The wonderful thing that all of them gathered to kill Messenger of Allah, they decided to kill him. Wonderful plotting in this period, they mobilize ten thousand warrior. The number or warriors of Muslims was about three thousand. Big difference. The steps that he prepared - This is introduction to these blessed verses to have complete picture when we speak on these verses

What did Messenger of Allah do toward this movement? Indeed it is international movement, it is international movement in the modern language If we made map with the present boundaries,then how many are the states which they form? The Messenger take the army to region which is called Sela and they dug trench by opinion of Salman Al-Mohammady, it formed partition between him and between the aggressors. The mountain behind him as natural protection and the trench in front of him. He put the women and children on heights of the city,and put persons to protect them regarding that the safety of these heights regions are more than other. He chose Abdullah Bin Maktom as emir on Medina. This was picture for the events which will happen In the name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

O people who believe! Remember the favor of Allah upon you

What is meaning of favor here? By the way, these blessed verses were sent down after period from this battle, it means not directly or after few days but after period of time (were sent down)

O people who believe! Remember the favor of Allah upon you

There is favor here. Remember the favor of Allah

He didn’t say, Remember favor from Allah, there is meaning in that

Remember the favor of Allah

Why didn’t he say, Remember favor from Allah? The interpreters say that regarding this grace is from Allah directly, it means not by causes and effects but direct grace which is special for the believers, it is victory which isn’t compared with other victory. If you see at first sight, an army which is mobilized by high moral mobilization to put end for Muslims and especially Mohammed, they decided to kill our noble the greatest Messenger by great equipment and warriors. There were two sides in this readiness which there is wonderful thing in them

The first side: the full readiness by equipment and warriors

The other side is by contrariety, defeat directly. There is no third thing , no fighting. You see the miracle and strange thing. The complete prepared for the war, it is prepared and mobilized for this thing. The other side should prepare against this readiness to triumph

What is the thing which was against this readiness? Killing, capture and large loss from them, it means the divine work that it deserves to say

Remember the favor of Allah upon you

It isn’t arbitrary matter, but remember O Muslims that in any age or crisis which passes on you

It isn’t far on Allah, or that we suppose there isn’t possibility on making the victory, and changing the matters to other things

when some armies came against you, so We sent against them a windstorm

and the armies you could not see

The victory happened by a wonderful thing that’s the wind, it means by one movement, by one element of nature, it is simple thing that’s the wind

and how many are the things such that in the nature? How many are which occur in the mind?For example: the water, the earth itself, the earthquakes the birds, the stones, the rain and many things

one element which Allah used Glory to Him, the people ended

The battle continued -it means the siege and skirmish by the talk and the fight which happened between Omar Bin Wid Al-A'miry and prince of believers (it continued) more than twenty day. The battle is only when the five including Omar Bin Wid Al-A'miry jumped from the narrow place in the trench- we will mention that if Allah wills- So event of wind and the armies you could not see the armies here…by the way, in Badr battle Allah mention the angels clearly but here he didn’t mention the angels but the interpreters say that they are angels and they say that they move the winds, and they increase from determination of the believers, and decrease from determination of the polytheists and their supporters and spread the terror in their hearts then their moral power rifted. The victory happened with existence of wind, and also with killing of Omar Bin Wid by Ali Bin Abi Talib, these reasons made suddenly victory and it didn’t occur in mind of the believers

By the way, when He said, and the armies you could not see

There are purpose and meaning in everything in Koran. Koran wants to teach Muslims when they read it, He gives field for the thinking with condition that you shouldn’t leave the main meanings which the reader should know them

when he said, (armies…) it is possible for being creatures other than angels that they are able to deal by this hidden way and making the victory

Is it possible? Of course not only the angels are hidden creatures and Jinn are hidden creatures

Aren't there believers jinn? If there is believer jinn, he can service the Messenger also it is possible for being natural things which be armies for Allah as the wind is army for Allah and the water, maybe stones are armies for Allah

I saw in a book of interpretations that one of meanings of word "armies" in the Arabic language is the stone which has clay, and according to the narration they said that wind hit our faces by the soil, maybe the meaning is stone, I say as opinion, but the meaning is related to the angels in the origin, but as long as Koran says "and the armies you could not see" so it is possible that Muslims could not see the armies who were by many hidden ways other than the angels besides the existence of angels, it means the angels and the other form these armies

So why do limit sight of Muslims toward the angels only? It is defect in the matter, whereas there are many wander things in this life or in the earth that we didn’t see from them only the little, but we will see more at the blessed appearance of Al-Imam Al-Mahdi

These verses; when we read them and contemplate their meanings, it should be aim in them

Is Koran dead-discontinuous- or continuous? It is alive –continuous- in each age and has permanent things and confirmations

These verse have many confirmations which we should move through them

we who prepare ourselves to receive our waited Imam or he waits our integrity

and Allah sees your deeds

Some of them said that (your deeds) relate to the believers, it means as that O Muslims; your intentions, deeds and sayings are existent at Me

The real sight on the creatures is from Allah Glory to Him

When they came upon you from above you and from below you and when the eyes became fixed in stare,and the hearts came up to the throats, and you were harboring doubts about Allah

All verses of Koran are high and have meanings and aims

See how Allah made a scene that He wanted by it to make the terror inter to them. Direct sultanate of speech, it means He made hearts of reader move to frightening scene directly, it also has aim

Allah wants to make an impression for you, it means if you were in this place, so what do you do? It is characteristic of Koran, when we say that he is alive

we move to live situation directly by these verses

When they came upon you from above you and from below you

What do you imagine? How was the tightening on Muslims? In this case that’s the large numbers of army with the siege, and you should be firm

The verses say, " they came upon you from above you" it means from the East side, " and from below you" it means from the West side, and Quraish is from the South side, they said that maybe there were hindrances which lead them

to turn from the south toward the west and besiege the city

" and when the eyes became fixed in stare", " fixed in stare" means the turn

The turn toward one side. Make this phrase in your mind " The turn toward one side", "and when the eyes became fixed in stare,and the hearts came up to the throats", the meaning of hearts is the souls, whereas the heart never comes up to the throat, but the soul. He likened the scene due to its hardship as whom the death approaches to him

What does he suffer whom the death approaches to him?His soul wants to get out (from his body), so the meaning of "and the hearts came up to the throats" is that their souls will get out. We said that "and when the eyes became fixed in stare"means The turn toward one side

When did " the eyes became fixed in stare" happen? Muslims were living in case of full dependence regarding the Messenger of Allah is with them, and Allah always promise them by the victory, it means that this moral being is existent among them, they didn’t imagine that the enemy will mobilize the armies by this shape whereas it is the first battle with thus warriors after battle of Uhud, the Muslims didn’t see thus battle and they live with being of the Messenger as they were living in situation of tranquility and safety, but the situation doesn’t stay permanent whereas Allah; every day He has a matter to bring forth. These crowd and siege, and elements of victory are not existent elements of victory are existent at the other side, hence the congestion of fear and confusion and other is formed

When they came upon you from above you and from below you and when the eyes became fixed in stare

We said that "and when the eyes became fixed in stare" means the turn toward one side, their hearts turn away from-this is what we want to concentrate on it- turn away from order of the Messenger and from their faith and from Ability of Allah in making the victory in any time, their eyes became fixed in stare toward one side

Why did we say as the one whom the death approaches to him?The one whom the death approaches to him always look at one side. This matter isn’t mentioned

Why do we want to concentrate on it? Their eyes became fixed in stare only toward the military sideand the great military aid at the hostile side. There is balance in everything; balance in the material side and the moral side. There is balance in everything, there is excess and negligence. Here excess happened in matter of sight toward the hostile side, they forget directly the Ability of Allah and existence of Messenger with them, and the faith side which formed during the years which passed, all these things become lost due to this low sight toward the worldly side. This is our calamity at all times, the material causes and sides always be high at us, it is wonderful matter

Son of Nooh (Noah) said "I shall take the refuge of a mountain"; it is material side, he threaten him by signs of Allah; threaten him by the death, but he said directly "I shall take the refuge of a mountain"; material side, he looks at sky; too high, also his eyes became fixed in stare

Now most of us; our eyes became fixed in stare, it is wonderful matter, the material side affected on us largely, our sight is only toward the western material culture; toward America

Is it right or no? Who does can face America?! And so, because our eyes became fixed in stare toward this side and forget the another side

It is wonderful formation

As to these parties, He said in Surah of Al-Ahzab, He said they are parties not one part, and he didn’t say the enemy comes to you, but enemies

How many are the parties now?! And each party has aim and hopes which differ from the other side (party), it means he does for his benefit and also the other, and the third does for his benefit, each one of them does for his benefit but they united. Allah wills to make us feel that as long as they are parties, but they are disunited practically

When did they unite? When the reformer became dangerous on them

This side will continue till day of the blessed appearance; how? The people were in ignorant society before sending of the Messenger of Allah

Mohammed was sent to save the mankind from darkness of ignorance

The parties were formed and the Jews formed them; another matter

I said that the one who inflamed the battle is Huyayy bin Akhtab, Where did he live this Jew? In Khaiber, and place of Khaiver was in north of Al-Medina, its place geographically was in north of the Arabian Peninsula, it is the region between her and Sham, then region of Tayma and Eilat; Eilat region of ports which lies in port of Aqaba, it means Khaiber was gate of Sham, between Sham and the Island (of Arab). Please pay attention to that

This gate between Sham and the Island (of Arab) was through Jews of Tayma, Fadak and Wadi Al-Qura (valley of the villages), all these regions were regions of the Jews, they lie in north of Arabian Peninsula

Who did provide these Jews with material and moral side? They put overseer in the Island or the region which is near to the Messenger of Allah, and provided it with the material and moral side

Who did occupy Sham? The Romanic state

Who was enemy of the Romanic state? Messenger of Allah regarding that he threw their religion and Book aside, of course we don’t mean Book of the Jesus, no, but the distorted book which they made the Jesus as god by it -The third hypostasis- It means there was plot

Does Huyayy bin Akhtab move alone? Never, they always depend on the other it means there was hidden intermediary between them and the Roman to kill Mohammed

They formed the parties and we said that there was reformer, now we return to the first (age of) ignorance. How many are the speeches from Messenger of Allah and prince of believers and from the infallible imams that emphasize on this side that’s returning to the first (age of) ignorance

Doesn’t the first (age of) ignorance need reformer? Doesn’t it need savior? Of course it needs. Al-Imam Al-Mahdi and who behaves as his behavior

Will they form the parties or not?The parties will be formed

Three main sides in these blessed verses that Allah willed to made

What are they? Three main matters in these blessed verses that Allah willed to explain them to us

The first and important matter is destroying the power of aggressors whoever they were by all their forces. It should destroy this power

Don’t say, when? Before that, what was? When the eyes became fixed in stare, and the hearts came up to the throats. then He wanted to destroy this power

The second side is uncovering of the hypocrites and those who have weak faith It is important thing that’s taking the hypocrite out of group of purity or perfect faith, and also taking out of those who have weak faith, they hinder movement of Al-Imam

The third side. This third side concern the believers if Allah wills, due to trust of Allah in the believers and their ability to endure the difficulties, He wills to increase their trials, He make them inter in testing, Allah knows but in order that you confess in your success. You live hard trial, and if you succeeded in this trial then the victory will be achieved. So three main bases

Allah glory to him wants them from these blessed verses

They are: achievement of victory on the enemies

Discovering of the hypocrites and those who have weak faith

And success of believers in the trials, this is what I want, success of believers in the trials by their desert

So the parties will be formed against Al-Imam Al-Mahdi

Is Al-Imam existent or not? He is existent, but how many are the hypocrites –you are far above them- and those who have weak faith claim following Al-Imam Al-Mahdi at the present before the blessed appearance? The first side the enemy is existent. Isn’t it?It is existent and he works largely in the region The enemy this largest taguot work by his means they are the parties

The Romanic state fought Messenger of Allah. Did Caesar fight by himself? No the agents of parties. It is the same region, look at the miracle side in Koran

They move from behind walls, they fight you from behind walls, the same rulers of region and its parties therefore the more enemies and more harm on Al-Imam Al-Mahdi are people of the region -without names- in spite of being of antagonism among them but they will unite, and they will be parties against Al-Imam Al-Mahdi

We said that how many are the waiters who claim that they wait to join with Al-Imam Al-Mahdi but they are hypocrites and who have weak faith and the few (waiters) with them they are the believers the sincere, those who receive the trial one by one and succeed in them then appearance of Al-Imam and congregation of parties against them will be at them

(This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us and Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth), just the believer say that, so the one who stays alive at appearance of Al-Imam and he prepared himself to the honorable Mahdawi field, let he asks or prepares himself because these three matters will be formed in front of him, and chooses that he will be with any side from these three sides

We said that the first camp is that the power of aggressors will be destroyed with all of their names, maybe some of us are from the first camp regarding that belonging to a group which the parties are formed by it

Don’t think that you go to Europe or fight with America or the Jews, no, maybe here with some parties which will fight Al-Imam

Do we learn lesson? "And you were harboring doubts about Allah". We make it two interpretations, -the general- " and you were harboring doubts about Allah"When did this matter happen? When they saw the parties and force of army, and when the army approached to them, they dig the trench before few time. Prince of believers carries soil on his shoulders and he never disdain from that. If some of us disdain and prefer to dig instead of that, whereas the one who carries the soil then some of it will lie on his heads, Prince of believers carries soil, Salman was strong therefore most of them wish to work with him he uses the tools with perfect manner, he believes in his case even that when they built mosque of the Messenger, each one carries one brick but he carries several bricks peace of Allah be upon them. They dag then a white rock appeared, they want to complete the trench, they said, leave it, one of them said call for Salman to tell Messenger of Allah that this rock hinder our work Messenger of Allah was too hungry, he tightened his belly and came

Where are we from this high moral side?! He performed the ablution and spat in the water then threw it on the rock. At the first hit; it flashed with high shine which reached to the sky. He hit the second then it flashed and reached to the sky too. He hit the third then it flashed and reached to the sky too. He said, be happy, the Muslims see that, (siege and wind), he said, be happy

Now I see palaces of Sham, Yemen and Madaen, this is what I saw, if Allah wills we will conquer them, (O Allah bless on Mohammed and on his family)

They say that he gave us good news, he said before days that we will conquer Madaen, sham and Yemen, but our situation now (is bad)! See the doubts

and you were harboring doubts about Allah

When do we get rid from this calamity! It will continue till day of appearance

They say that they will capture our progeny in Medina and it will be plundered and Islam will end, the case will be as the pre-Islam; different doubts, but practically these (doubts) are at those who have weak faith, and at the hypocrites more. We give another meaning, we say that this matter happened at the believers. How? Regarding the first speech

O people who believe! Remember the favor of Allah upon you

Maybe side from its sides relate to the believers, how? The believer reproaches himself in everything, Remember this matter that’s the self-reproaching whatever he does he says that he is neglectful, Pay attention, there is moral side in that. He says, I am staying neglectful, he does the wonderful deeds, he stays up (late) at night for sake of Allah, he fights, but he sleeps with dissatisfaction on himself

So what does occur at him? You may accept that or not, maybe he thinks that he commits a sin therefore maybe Allah do what he wills and the victory will not happen, it is supposition, you can ask yourself that if it is true or not

and you were harboring doubts about Allah. There, the believers were tested, and they were subjected to a severe shake

It was cold night; biting coldness; black night which the moon is occulted; the person may doesn’t see his finger; strong wind

Hudaifa says, I approached to Messenger of Allah, the Messenger of Allah said in this night, I want from someone to go and explore news about the people

-the people means the enemy- and brings news about them -you can live this situation now and to be responsible- He asked someone –I will not mention names- He asked someone, Do you go?He said I ask forgiveness of Allah and his Messenger –it means he feared- He asked the second, Do you go? He said I ask forgiveness of Allah and his Messenger. He turned toward Hudaifa and said, do you go O Hudaifa?He said, here I am at your service. He said, go and explore the people and don’t make any event

What is the meaning of event? He means, Don’t make problem

It is moral problem that we should pay attention to it, Hudaifa went and he says, my limbs wer trembling, -it is too cold- my limbs were trembling due to the coldness, I approached to the people (his intention was pure therefore he reached with easiness, if his intention wasn’t pure he didn’t reach quickly) He said, I see Abu Sufian–it means he was near to him otherwise how did he recognize him- He inflamed fire and sit nearby it, he said, I pulled my arrow out and put it in the bow -he decided to kill him- (pay attention to wisdom and intelligence of the real believer, the case became easy for killing Abu Sufian leader of battle, but what did he remember? In direct (the saying), Don’t make event O Hudaifa. High obedience, Perfect awareness at him, It is wonderful movement, he could be integrated in short time, but we don’t reach to that after 1400 year, it is wonderful matter

We always advise the believers to leave some deeds but they do the contrary and cause harm thinking that he did good

Now our hearts throb violently that why didn’t he kill him? If he killed him then the victory will not happen whereas uproar will happen and maybe there was retaliatory reaction directly. Isn’t right? So look at wisdom of the Messenger and level of obedience of this believer

There, the believers were tested,and they were subjected to a severe shake

The situation was thus, they came to Messenger of Allah, as Messenger of Allah gave gift to Hudaifa, he said to him, (O Allah keep him from his back, right, left, above, bellow-all sides-) he guarded him. It is gift which he went by it, Messenger of Allah with you and his invocation with you, but your faith are weak, it is calamity

and they were subjected to a severe shake

as the general situation and what we mentioned lead to this result that’s the shake, and the fear and the terror. We shouldn’t be angry on them because Muslims were with Messenger of Allah with short period, it means they became Muslims since short period therefore it is possible to commit such mistakes, for example; new employee in new job; he may commit mistake, but the direct blame is on us. How many are the events which happen during the history which we live and understand in this level or less or more but in spite of that the mistakes are happening

Isn’t right? The important that after these results (the severe shake) the severe shake and the fear as if the soul trembled and felt fear then it influences on the body and makes the body unstable. He is worried due to the fear and the power at the side of enemy, but the wonderful picture which Koran mentions. The wind achieved the victory, it destroys their pavilions even that Abu Sufian said, it isn’t place for this case, it never remain sign for slipper or hoof. Let's go, then the victory was by this side, and we hope from Allah to prepare it for us and to be with Al-Imam Al-Mahdi in the victory by Blessing of Allah upon Mohammed and his family
