It was mentioned in book ( The miracle sciences of Imam Ali

Imam Sadiq said : Every sense has a sensor and vice versa . And there are things between the sensors and senses , that the sense is perceiving by them for example the light and the air , that the sight doesn't perceive the color without light , and the hearing doesn't perceive the sound without air
Note : Imam Sadiq is a grandson of Imam Ali and he was born before 1300 year

The modern science proved that the hearing and sight don't occur without the air and the light
