Abandonment of the self ( but whoever forgives and make reconciliation , his reward is with Allah ) Surah Al-shura' If someone insulted you by a word or action then you insulted him by the same way thus you have defended of the self and this is lawful matter and you can ascend in your integrity through forgiving on the insult mentioned above , the forgiveness here represents abandonment of the self in some it's rights which ascend the person to the high degree of integrity but there is another behavior which ascend the person to the higher degree of integrity through being beneficent to the one who insulted you and that's what the Islam recommended the Muslims to do it which is the higher degree of abandonment of the self . Narrated that someone insulted Al-Imam Al-Sajjad but how was the reply of Al-Sajjad , he told him" do you need any help ?" then he gave him more money . Prophet Mohammed said: the best merits of the present life and after life are To forgive the one who oppressed you To visit the one who didn't keep in touch with you Be beneficent to the one who insulted you To help the one who deprived you
